STRIVE CYCLING STAGE RACE

The Strive Cycling Stage Race is 12 days of learning and racing. Athletes will be welcomed to Calgary, Alberta, Canada to partake in 8 road races, on-the-bike skill sessions, and off-the-bike learnings from July 25th to August 6th, 2024. Mentors will support racers by recording video for post-race debriefs and on some stages actively partaking for real time coaching. The goal is to improve race knowledge and increase peloton skills by inviting all North American U17 and Junior Women Racers to one spot; creating one large peloton of support, encouragement, development, and competition. Athletes will be staying together in a dorm setting with opportunities to make new friends and learn from each other.  Click here to learn more about the origin story.

WHO'S IT FOR?

All U17 and U19 Women racers with a UCI license are welcome to join in the fun of the Strive Cycling Stage Race. Both groups will race as one peloton. Athletes will also be named to training groups with other riders of their current level, be allocated a Mentor to help coach and advise, and benefit from training sessions, such as the following examples:
  • Athletes looking to make National Team projects and/or race in Europe will work on:
    • Caravan etiquette and safety
    • Feeding from a car
    • Connecting with potential teams
  • Athletes looking to gain more pack riding experience will work on:
    • Moving up and holding your position in the pack
    • How to analyze the route/wind before the race
    • Maneuvering the pack for a feed

RACE INFO

We have partnered with several race organizers who will host the 8 races over the 12 days:
  • Jul 25: Athletes arrive
  • ​Jul 26: Athletes meet their mentors 
  • Jul 27 and 28: Peloton Criterium Races 
  • Jul 29: Video debrief
  • Jul 30: Criterium hosted by Midweek Mayhem
  • Jul. 31: Road Race hosted by Crankmasters
  • Aug. 1:  Training Day
  • Aug. 2: Tourist Day - fun activity away from 2 wheels
  • Aug. 3, 4, 5: Tour de Bowness 3 Stage Omnium Race
  • Aug. 6: Athletes depart

THE NITTY GRITTY

Racers will be responsible for booking their own travel plans to arrive in Calgary, but once in the city the following will be provided:
  • Transportation to/from the airport on Jul. 25 & Aug. 5
  • Transportation to/from the races
  • Race registration fees
  • Accommodation for July 25th to Aug. 5th, 11 nights
  • Dinner on July 25, all meals from July 26 to Aug. 5th, breakfast on Aug. 6th
